Fiona Lau is a PhD student in the Human-AI Interaction group at TU Dortmund University and the Research Center for Trustworthy Data Science and Security. She previously earned an M.Sc. in Human-Computer Interaction from LMU Munich, where her thesis focused on human-in-the-loop image generation for fashion and adapting the AI outputs to user preferences using Bayesian optimization. During her studies in Munich, she worked as a research assistant at the AI lab of HFF Munich on generative AI for the movie industry.
She received her B.Sc. from the University of Applied Sciences Lübeck, with a thesis on gesture-control feedback systems for cars conducted in collaboration with gestigon GmbH, where she worked for several years as a working student alongside her bachelor’s studies. Two patents were filed based on her bachelor's thesis.
Her research focuses on human-computer interaction and human-centered generative AI, particularly human-AI co-creation, interactive AI systems, and user-centered AI that supports human agency.
