With Dr. Nina Lemmens taking office as Managing Director, the UA Ruhr is sharpening its focus on coordinated research support. Since 15 January 2026, she has headed the new Management Office, which brings together central administrative and strategic functions-most notably the structures of the Research Alliance Ruhr and its RC Trust.
For the Research Alliance and the RC Trust, this marks an important step toward clearer processes and stronger visibility. By consolidating responsibilities, the new setup creates reliable frameworks for researchers, transparent points of contact for partners, and efficient interfaces for funding bodies and policymakers.
Dr. Lemmens brings more than two decades of experience in international science management, communication, and foundation work. Her background connects research excellence with societal responsibility-an approach that aligns closely with the mission of the Research Alliance Ruhr to support excellent, responsible science across disciplines.
International networking remains a key pillar. Existing global connections are set to be expanded, benefiting researchers and students alike through improved exchange opportunities and stronger strategic partnerships.
With the transition phase now concluding, the Research Alliance Ruhr and the RC Trust are firmly embedded in the new Management Office. This creates continuity while opening room for further development-strengthening trust, cooperation, and impact across the Ruhr region and beyond.
