The new BMBF project is a joint project of the company VCE Verkehrslogistik Consulting & Engineering GmbH with the Institute of Transport Logistics (ITL) and the Chair of Mathematical Statistics and Industrial Applications (MSIND) at TU Dortmund University - and us, the Research Center Trustworthy Data Science and Security (via PI Markus Pauly)! It is funded as part of the KI4KMU funding line Artificial Intelligence for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.
The aim of the project is to improve shipment planning with the help of AI-based forecast distributions and mathematical optimization. The aim is to optimize the choice of shipment time and transport service provider and thus make the shipping process more sustainable and resilient. A data-supported decision should not only save costs, but also reduce the ecological footprint by making the best possible use of freight capacities.
The project will start in September 2024 and will be funded by the BMBF with around €600,000 over three years
